News from Ernie Clark.
Your Independent councillor for Hilperton.
Another stint of essential maintenance on the A361 between Hilperton and Semington is planned. Due to the nature of the work, a road closure is required; however this will only be in effect at weekends.
Weather dependent, the road will be closed from 7am to 6pm on Saturday 6 May, Sunday 7 May and Sunday 14 May. No work will take place during the week. Allow extra time on your journeys due to the diversion route and the extra congestion expected.
The countdown to the local elections continues with only a month or so to go; polling day is the 4th May. If you want either a postal or proxy vote the applications have to be made by mid-April. More details are available at www.wiltshire.gov.uk
If you are interested in standing for the parish council please get in touch as the council is keen to get as wide a spread of members both by age and their location within the parish. I know that the parish council is keen to attract councillors in particular from Hilperton Marsh and Paxcroft Mead.
The long-awaited traffic survey, promised for April, started early with a number of the pairs of rubber strips appearing during mid-March.
The village hall quiz was very well supported with, as I recall, 13 teams taking place. Over £200 was raised for the hall (plus the bar takings), whilst £160 was distributed in prizes. Congratulations to the winning team who will be organising the next one on Saturday 16th September.
