Delays are occuring and bins are being missed.
WWDC has agreed with Cleanaway a way forward to ensure that disruption is minimised for customers.

Residents are asked to put their grey or green bin and black box out on their normal day of collection and to leave it out until it is emptied.

Grey bins will be collected as a priority. In most instances they should be collected on the normal scheduled day of collection or the next day. This will reduce inconvenience and ensure the risks to health or hygiene are minimised. In order to focus on grey bins, Cleanaway will not be emptying the green bins for the time being. They will be collected as soon as possible following the end of the ‘work to rule’. If you have excess green waste you are advised to take it to one of the household recycling centres.

It is hoped the industrial action will end by this weekend and that a normal service can resume next week. Discussions between Cleanaway and the GMB union are continuing. The Council is encouraging both parties to resolve these issues, for GMB to end the ‘work to rule’, and get the service back to normal as quickly as possible.

WWDC advice is to :

Put your grey bin out on the scheduled day of collection. If it is not emptied, leave it at the kerbside until it has been emptied.

Double wrap food waste to minimise possible smells and hygiene problems.

Use your local household recycling centre if possible to dispose of excess household and green waste.

Not to stack black sacks beside the wheeled bins - they will not be collected. (The reasons for this relate to health and safety and agreed working practices).

Put your green bin out on the scheduled day of collection. It will not be emptied for the time being but residents are requested to leave it out until it is emptied.
