Your Independent councillor for Hilperton.
The election for your Wiltshire Councillor will take place on Thursday 4th May between 7.00am and 10.00pm. There are four polling stations in Hilperton Division; the village hall, the tin church, the community centre, and Fieldways Hotel. You have a choice from three candidates; Conservative, Independent, and Lib Dem. If you have a postal vote which you have not sent off, you can take it to any of the four locations.
The parish council election received thirteen nominations for thirteen vacancies. Accordingly all thirteen are deemed to have been elected. This is a far healthier situation than some parish councils where so few nominations were received that a new council cannot be formed as it would be inquorate. For those of you now in Trowbridge Paxcroft Ward, the ward election will be contested but I have no idea who the candidates are.
More essential maintenance on the A361 between Hilperton and Semington is planned. Due to the nature of the work, a road closure is required; however this will only be in effect at weekends.
Weather dependent, the road will be closed from 7am to 6pm on Saturday 6 May, Sunday 7 May and Sunday 14 May. No work will take place during the week. Allow extra time on your journeys due to the diversion route and the extra congestion expected.
The long-awaited traffic survey has now taken place and the results should be available within the next month or so.
