Will they honour the 'commitment' made back in 2014?
In 2014 a draft set of Paxcroft Mead Resident Association minutes stated 'I (Roger Andrews, a Town Councillor) have had a long talk with Lance Allan (the clerk to Trowbridge Town Council) this morning about the Paxcroft skatepark and outside gym, and I have some very good news...'
The 'very good news' was that the town council was minded to spend £25k per annum for four years on the area of Hilperton which could be transferred to Trowbridge.
A month or so back I asked a few questions at the Town Council Annual Meeting (when it was Lib Dem controlled). One was as follows:-
Q. Has TTC approved this idea (allocating £100k to the transferred area)? If it has not, when will TTC debate the idea?
A. Trowbridge Town Council has considered the principle that the additional contributions being made by the residents transferred from other parishes should be used on enhancing facilities in those areas and in the vicinity of those areas, such as open spaces and the play areas which the town council has taken over this month. The figures are included in the five year financial plan. This will be subject to consultation with those residents which will commence after the elections, prior to any decisions being made.
Translated from 'political speak', this seems to me to be basically saying 'TTC will not be allocating this money to Paxcroft Mead'.
As the town council is now controlled by the Conservatives, will they be more honourable in sticking to what was mooted for the ex Hilperton part of Paxcroft Mead? I would suggest that residents start going to meetings of TTC and asking questions of them. I regret that you cannot ask questions of (ex) Cllr. Roger Andrews as he lost his seat in the recent election.
