My December e-newsletter.

Your Independent councillor for Hilperton.

Firstly, although a little in the future, I hope that everyone has a Merry Christmas and A Happy New Year.

2018 won’t be seeing a repeat of the Brexit referendum or the US presidential election (remember them?!) but it might see the referendum on the Hilperton Neighbourhood Development Plan.

The plan was wrong-footed by the publication of the WC Housing Sites Allocation Plan which threw a very serious spanner into the works where the Gap is concerned. Whether the suggested compromise will find favour with everyone will be interesting to see.

The budget setting process for 2018/19 is underway at County Hall and it will be interesting to see where the Conservatives will wield their axe this time.

Wiltshire Council has yet another planning consultation running until 5.00pm on the 19th December. It is seeking various things for this area including a new Trowbridge Housing Market Area (HMA) to include the area around Trowbridge and the market towns of Bradford on Avon, Westbury and Warminster.

The Strategic Housing Market Assessment 2017 (SHMA) identifies the need for more housing in this market area over the period 2016-2036 to be 13,500 dwellings. This would represent an increase on the Wiltshire Core Strategy (WCS) period 2006-2036. Copies of the document can be viewed at County Hall or downloaded http://www.wiltshire.gov.uk/planning-policy-local-plan-review

Please do respond as this could, yet again, have serious consequences for Hilperton.
