News from County Hall and locally.

Wiltshire Council news from Ernie Clark. Your Independent councillor for Hilperton.

I hope that everyone had a good Christmas and new year.

The 2018/19 budget is being set at County Hall but delays in government funding information is holding things up. Hilperton Parish Council has set its precept for 2018/19 and decided that it did not need to increase its take from tax payers – this is the third successive year it has not increased its precept. Those of you living in Trowbridge parish were not so fortunate with a 3% rise coming your way. A Band D property in Hilperton will pay £14.28 a year whilst the Trowbridge figure is £148.99.

The Regulation 16 consultation period for the Hilperton Neighbourhood Development Plan is open until the 2nd February and this is the last chance for comment before it goes before a Planning Inspector. Comments can be made via the WC consultation portal, by email to or by post to Spatial Planning Economic Development and Planning County Hall Bythesea Road Trowbridge Wiltshire BA14 8JN.

The Police & Crime Commissioner is also having a consultation which runs to midday 31st January. He wants to hear your views on a proposed increase of £1 a month to preserve front-line policing.
