The planned 'coup' at County Hall by a group of Conservative councillors seems to have borne fruit.

At their group meeting last week, Jane announced that she would be standing down as their group leader from next year.  Presumably this is so that a 'planned succession' can be implemented before the next WC election in 2021.

Prospective candidates will, no doubt, be seeking allies ready for the fray....

This will not effect her position as Leader of the council as this is a four year appointment - unless, of course, Jane decides to step down from this post too.
