The consultation into proposals for changes to parking restrictions in the Church Street area saw a good number of responses both ‘for’ and ‘against’ the proposals. A decision should be reached within the next month or so.
Wiltshire Council wisely decided to postpone discussion on the Housing Site Allocation Plan from the May meeting of full council.
The contempt that WC holds the public in is best demonstrated by its response to the hundreds of submissions to the so-called ‘consultation’.
Most public comments seem to have been ignored as ‘an inconvenient truth’. However, where the developers are concerned, WC spatial planners seem hell-bent on accommodating their suggestions.
An example is for the land west of Elizabeth Way where the WC spatial planners propose ‘Amend Policy H2 to replace 205 dwellings in Table 5.3 for Elizabeth Way, Trowbridge with 355 dwellings. Amend first sentence in paragraph 5.58 as follows: "… land to the South West of Elizabeth Way is allocated for the development of approximately 205 355 dwellings, as identified on the Policies Map."
So, their original suggestion that a low-density scheme would be suitable for that area is quickly consigned to the waste paper bin to keep the big developers ‘on side’. Pathetic. No wonder people have no faith in the planners sat in County Hall.
