Recycle this Christmas.
Latest Press Release from West Wiltshire District Council.
West Wiltshire District Council has put together the following advice on how to deal with the festive aftermath:
- Christmas trees - all homes with green bins can leave real Christmas trees out for collection alongside the bins until the end of January.
- Christmas cards - these cannot be recycled through the black box kerbside scheme because of the glitter, metallic detail and/or card quality. However, the Woodland Trust will be collecting cards through branches of W H Smith and larger Tesco stores throughout January 2007. For further information, visit
The Woodland Trust - Stamps - these can be sent to Wiltshire Wildlife Trust who receive some money for them. Their address is: Wiltshire Wildlife Trust, Elm Tree Court, Long Street, Devizes, SN10 1NJ.
- Wrapping paper and crepe paper - unfortunately this cannot be recycled through the black box kerbside scheme because of the metallic detail and/or the dye used. However, non-shiny wrapping paper can be recycled through the cardboard skips at the household waste recycling centres.
- Cardboard - cardboard can be easily recycled at the district’s three household recycling centres at Furnax Lane, Warminster; Canal Road, Trowbridge; and Bowerhill, Melksham.
All rubbish and recycling collections will continue throughout the festive period, although they will be on different days to usual. To check when your bin or box is due to be emptied please see
