WCC to discuss unitary status.
Will the counfy council commit to spending £millions on this?
Although a complex subject, the justification put forward by WCC seems very weak.
To try and pry more information from them I have notified WCC that I wish to ask the following questions
1. How many members will there be on an area board? Who else will be on them? How will these be any more than talking shops? How will they be supported?
2. How would Town and Parish Councillors be appointed to Area Boards and what would happen to existing area community partnerships?
3. Paragraph 29 talks of transitional arrangements in respect of Council Tax - does this indicate rises in tax or does it suggest that your savings are overstated?
4. How will Housing Associations be involved? What implications are there where the housing stock is still owned by the district Council? How will these differences be accommodated? Can tenants in other districts expect a change of landlord with the council being replaced by such as a housing association?
5. What will you do if this all takes much longer, costs more and delivers less than expected?
6. How do your savings compare with the new Gershon annual savings targets for the whole county area?
