Firstly, ‘Happy New Year’ to everyone even though 2019 has been around for several weeks.
Things have been quiet at Wiltshire Council for the past month or so but I am sure that matters will get back to ‘normal’ soon.
The WC precept will be discussed at the full meeting on the 26th February. It looks as though the maximum sums allowed will be asked for the precept increase and for the Police & Crime Commisioner.
Hilperton Parish Council recently decided on its 2019 precept and decided that it would not increase. This is the second or third year that there has been no increase. If you have any local issues concerning you, please do let your local parish councillor know.
The village hall has seen three new trees planted paid for by the parish council. More might be planted later in the year.
WC has decided to fund new affordable houses via a new independent business. It will focus on the Trowbridge area as well as Chippenham and Salisbury. New affordable homes will be good to see but let’s hope that this is the correct business model to fund them.
The Neigbourhood Plan team might have to meet to look at land for new housing within the parish, but this decision has yet to be formally made.
There has been some interest in trying to apply for Village Green status for the uncultivated land this side of Elizabeth Way. If you would like to add your name to the volunteers please contact me a.s.a.p.
