Wiltshire Council news from Ernie Clark.

Your Independent councillor for Hilperton.

The parish now has a third defibrillator. It was installed recently at the Lion & Fiddle in Trowbridge Road. It is on the rear wall of the entrance porch (at the car park end of the pub) and is available 24/7. Again, it is hoped that it will never be needed, but it is there if required.

The A350 between Stoney Gutter and West Ashton crossroads will be closed from 5th to 17th September between the hours of 19.00 and 06.00. The ‘official’ re-route is quite long and so I expect that Ashton Road and Leapgate/West Ashton Road will see an increase in traffic.

The parish council is looking for new councillors to join it. The council would benefit from getting its new members from Paxcroft Mead and/or Hilperton Marsh as these areas are rather under-represented on the PC. The position isn’t onerous or time consuming. Please contact the clerk at rockseast@btconnect.com for more details. Hopefully, the PC can make a decision at its September meeting.

By the time you read this, the clean-up of Hilperton Gap should have been completed. Hopefully, the landowner will make the land ‘visitor proof’ to stop this sort of thing from happening again.

The latest issue of my Hilperton Update newsletter has been printed and distribution has started. Hopefully, every house in Hilperton Division will have received a copy by the end of September.
