Work continues.
Site instruction Number three issued. 1. Amendment to back of wall drainage and adjustment to concrete backfill design to suit arch profile. Summary of progress - Revised method statement approved by Network Rail - Majority of phase one of the works completed, consisting of a 1.9m wide trench excavated across the centre of the arch. The excavation was filled with concrete on Saturday morning (17th March).

Planned works for week ahead - Waterproofing, drainage and backfilling for phase one of the works to be completed. - Excavation for phase two of the works, consisting of a trench excavated between the phase one trench and the “Trowbridge” side parapet. - Concrete pour is anticipated for late Friday.

Other programming items or issues - The contractor is due to issue a revised programme of works in the near future. This will indicate an anticipated completion date which will be circulated.

Update March 25th: - Contractors have had a problem with an old cast iron gas main on the site which has meant the method of working has had to be modified. Part of the bridge will be left to be strengthened later in the year.

The best information WCC can give at the moment is that the road will reopen on the 3th, 4th, or 5th of April. Some of the remaining operations are weather dependant and there is still a question about what needs to be done on the gas main before the road reopens which is why the date is uncertain.
