New sites for cardboard and plastic recycling.
The local sites affected are those at Broughton Gifford village hall, Hilperton school, Holt village hall, Semington Turnpike, Staverton Club and Paxcroft Mead local centre.

Recycling banks for glass, cans and paper have been removed as these materials can be easily recycled from home through the black box scheme.

The new facilities have been introduced as a result of changes to the district's kerbside recycling scheme - from 1 April, residents can no longer put cardboard or kitchen waste into their green bin.

Waste and recycling management officer Clare Chadwick explained: "When we started the green bin collections three years ago, the available evidence suggested that we could take cardboard for composting. However, we now know that it isn't suitable as it affects the quality of the compost, so recycling it is the only alternative. By putting these new facilities in easy-to-reach places, and adding in extra facilities for plastic bottles, we think people will be able to easily recycle as part of an existing journey to the shops or similar."

Myself and fellow Independent councillor Russell Hawker have put forward a Notice of Motion for the next WWDC council meeting to debate how this major change will be monitored, and also to explore whether there is a better scheme for the use of the green bins.
