More pain for the villages?

The new traffic scheme in Bradford on Avon is reported to have led to chaos.

It would seem that the scheme is pushing more traffic through Hilperton and Staverton - no surprise there.

Cllr. Trevor Carbin (the WC member for Staverton) says

"On Thursday July 23rd from 1100 to 1200 the number of vehicles driving along the B3105 through Staverton was 844. On the nearest equivalent time in August, ie Thursday 20th, 1100 to 1200, the number of vehicles was 1001. This is a 19% increase, and with no other significant events in the area it’s probably fair to blame it on the restrictions in Bradford which started this week."

Cllr Bridget Wayman, cabinet member for highways at Wiltshire Council, has been quoted as saying: “People … should seek alternative routes to avoid the Town Bridge and one-way system.”

So, as ever, Hilperton and Staverton bear the brunt of an improvement for the resicents of BoA.
