A new leader was needed after Cllr. Content's election failure.
As Cllr. Content (the previous group leader) lost her WWDC seat in the local election a new group leader had to be appointed. For whatever reason, Sarah chose not to defend her very safe LibDem seat in Trowbridge; instead, she stood for a seemingly 'no-win' seat in Melksham and duly failed to get re-elected.

At her last WWDC meeting, Sarah seemed to be aware of her impending departure and what turned out to be her valedictory speech was, in my opinion, an utter disgrace. It was so full of spite and bile I was surpised that councillors didn't walk out of the chamber in disgust. Sarah would have done well to take a leaf out of Cllr. Batchelor's farewell speech as Chairman (he also lost his seat on WWDC) which was concise and relevant, but with touches of humour.
