Wiltshire Council news from Ernie Clark

Your Independent councillor for Hilperton.

Welcome to my August e-newsletter. Apologies for it being rather late, and rather brief too.

The issue of the ‘suggested’ 2000+ houses for the Marsh Road/Whaddon Lane area is still very much alive. I have a meeting with the leader of Wiltshire Council, and the planning cabinet member, early next month. In addition, the parish council has established a working party and they have met with various landowners regarding the WC idea.

Hilperton could manage only fourth place in the second round of the ‘Best kept village’ competition. Still, at least we won back in 2012 (I think that’s the correct year).

I understand that a decision on the planning application for new houses at Church Farm (in Church Street) is due soon. I’m presuming it will be for permission.

Hilperton has the Speed Indicator Device for the next few weeks. The parish council is looking at whether it would be beneficial for the parish to have its own SID, rather than sharing one with three other parishes. WC is working on plans where it could be situated (the idea is that it would move around four or five sites in the parish).
