Wiltshire Council news from Ernie Clark.

Welcome to my October e-newsletter.

The parish council ‘working group’ had a meeting recently with representatives from Semington PC, Staverton PC, and Trowbridge Town Council regarding the issue of the ‘suggested’ 2500+ houses for the Marsh Road/Whaddon Lane/New Terrace (Staverton) area.

It was a very useful 90 minutes with the outcome being that all four councils hope to be able to find a ‘common theme’ to object to the siting of so many houses in this location. There may also be a new bat survey commissioned.

It would seem that WC will not be producing the formal draft plan until next year.

The first ‘full’ planning application for land on the Trowbridge side of Elizabeth Way has been received by WC. The reference number is PL/2021/08554. Comments need to be submitted to WC by 18th October. It relates to the approval of Reserved Matters (layout, scale, appearance and landscaping) for 151 new homes, pursuant to outline application (ref.16/00672/out).

The metro count in Whaddon Lane (by the village hall) gave the result ‘No further action’ whilst the Trowbridge Community Area Transport Group decided that the rest of Whaddon Lane would not be recommended for any action to reduce the speed limit from the current national speed limit.

The proposed (second) solar farm on Whaddon Lane has now submitted its formal planning application. The reference for this is PL/2021/03061. Comments need to be with WC before the 26th October.
