I hope this doesn't upset any Chippenham residents....
"I was somewhat surprised to read your editorial last week; Chippenham is not the only area of west Wiltshire blighted by the unsound ideas of the WC spatial planning team.
The village of Hilperton is threatened by 2,000 houses, which would more than double the size of the village, with no suitable infrastructure ideas to mitigate the chaos that the suggested houses would bring with them.
In comparison, at least the Chippenham scheme is looking at a new road to distribute the increased traffic and, unless I’m mistaken, didn’t the town council endorse this proposed new road?
Both the Hilperton and Chippenham schemes seem to be the result of the mis-guided ‘thinking’ taking place at County Hall, but please don’t focus on the Chippenham issue simply because Chippenham has a louder voice than Hilperton – and Hilperton, unlike Chippenham, isn’t classed as a ‘principal settlement’. Nor does it have both a motorway and a main line rail link to London!"
