A belated Happy New Year to everyone.
Having said that, now for the ‘not so good’ news – precept increases for 22/23. All the precepting bodies are busy announcing their plans.
For the first tier authorities it is a mixed message depending on whether you live in Hilperton or Trowbridge.
Hilperton has announced a nil increase (for the seventh consecutive year) which will see a band D property continue to pay £14.28 a year. Trowbridge has increased their precept (again); this time by nearly 20%. A band D house will now pay over £200.00 a year.
Wiltshire Council is likely to look for a 1.99% increase with a further 1% for Adult Social Care.
The Police & Crime Commissioner is looking for a flat £10.00 and you can respond to the questionnaire on the PCC web site until the 2nd January.
I don’t know what plans the fire authority has.
Despite not increasing council tax, Hilperton PC agreed at the most recent meeting to allocate just short of £30k to various schemes for the Platinum Jubilee. Most of this will go towards a substantial piece of new play equipment at the village hall.
The PC working group is continuing to gather evidence to oppose the ‘pre-allocation’ of the fields to the east of the village for housing. They meet later this week.
