Your Independent councillor for Hilperton.
Welcome to my February e-newsletter.
The parish council working group (looking at the land affected by the suggested 2,500+ houses for the Marsh Road/Whaddon Lane/New Terrace (Staverton) area) continues its good work. It reports back to the parish council on a regular basis. If anyone would be interested in joining the group please let me know.
A new web site is being designed and will be launched soon. In addition, a press release is due to go to the Wiltshire Times in the next week or so.
Wiltshire Council is pressing on with the spending (wasting) of £600k of government funding on the ‘new’ cycle way to Melksham via Semington. I cannot see the logic of the decision, nor can either of the parish councils. Whilst I accept that this is ‘government’ rather than ‘Wiltshire Council’ money, it is still ‘our’ money as it comes from the various taxes we pay. It really does seem as though the council is spending it simply because it has it to spend.
Wiltshire Council had a marathon meeting last week to set the precept for 2022/23. As expected, our council tax will increase by 1.99% with an additional 1% for adult services.
