Unitary Wiltshire - it’s happening!
WWDC has just been informed of this by the Government Office for the South West. They haven't heard the results for the rest of the country yet which will be announced in Parliament, along with the WWDC decision.

This is a huge disappointment - the case against a unitary authority was very strong, and WWDC continues to have concerns about the county council’s financial case and the impact on local people, as do I and many other councillors.

Shrewsbury & Atcham Borough Council has secured a judicial review into the unitary process, which is due in court on 12-13 September. WWDC continues to support this approach, but cannot assume that it will lead to the Government changing its decision on Wiltshire.

WWDC expects the county council to be making information available to them and the other districts on what happens next.

WWDC did everything it could to secure the future of West Wiltshire District Council, but the Government - for whatever reason - has set its mind on a unitary county.

If the legal challange comes to nothing then you will have the joys af yet another election next May !!!
