Following the deeply sad news of the death of Her Majesty The Queen, WC wants to update you with some information on the plans for the next few days here in Wiltshire.
Flags will be flown at half-mast as a mark of respect, except during the Proclamation of the new King, HM King Charles III.
Following the Proclamation, flags will once again be flown at half-mast throughout the mourning period.
The National Proclamation of the new King will take place today, Saturday 10 September, with Capital Cities, County and local Proclamations to follow on Sunday 11 September.
In Wiltshire, the County Proclamation will be read by the High Sheriff of Wiltshire on the steps of old County Hall, Trowbridge at 1pm on Sunday 11 September. This is a public event so you're very welcome to attend. Bythesea Road will be closed while the Proclamation is taking place.
Floral tributes can be laid outside the WC offices at County Hall in Trowbridge.
From Monday 12 September, books of condolence will be available to sign at County Hall, Trowbridge; Monkton Park, Chippenham; Bourne Hill, Salisbury; and all Wiltshire Council libraries and mobile libraries. After the funeral, all condolence books will then be sent to the Wiltshire and Swindon History Centre for the archives.
