Welcome to my October e-newsletter.
The death of HM Queen Elizabeth II was undoubtedly the ‘major issue’ last month. It was a very moving time and let’s all hope that King Charles III can take on her role. God save the King.
The working plan for the Wiltshire Council (WC) cabinet for the rest of the year has been published but there is no mention of the ‘suggested’ 2500+ houses for the Marsh Road/Whaddon Lane/New Terrace (Staverton) area. The WC Local Plan is now about twelve months behind schedule and so one has to wonder what will eventually be placed in the public domain.
There has been no news from the would-be developers of the land at the eastern end of Devizes Road but, no doubt, they are working on their plans before submitting them to the planning department at County Hall.
I am continuing to badger the highway people at WC to get the survey commenced into closing Devizes Road to through motorised traffic. This was supposed to be done as part of the Hilperton – Semington cycle route……
The developers of Church Farm seem to have ‘forgotten’ that one of the planning conditions was that wheel washing facilities had to be installed at the site to prevent mud from being taken onto the public highway. I have contacted WC Planning Enforcement asking them to investigate.
WC has made an order to divert footpath HILP54 as the developer of the land (on the west side of Elizabeth Way) wishes to move the path so that it runs alongside the B road. There is more information on what to do, if you wish to object to the order, on my web site. Objections have to be lodged before 17.00 hours on Friday (7th October).
