WWDC to seek judicial review on unitary decision.
A separate legal action is likely to be commenced.
As well as continuing to support Shrewsbury and Atcham Borough Council in their judicial review of the process for the Local Government Reorganisation, it was agreed to pursue a separate legal challenge action with respect to the reorganisation in Wiltshire.
The Leader of WWDC (Graham Payne) said: "We do not believe that a unitary authority is in the best interests of West Wiltshire residents.
The S of S decision is ill considered and does not appear to fit with her stated criteria. It has minimal support in the county.
There is continuing widespread opposition to the County Council's bid for unitary status. The case against the new authority remains very strong and we believe a judicial review will demonstrate that the County's bid does not fulfil the S of S criteria."
