The system is changing.

As you may know, the Government has introduced a requirement for voters to show photo ID when voting at a polling station at elections and referendums.

This new requirement will apply for the first time in England with effect from Thursday 4 May 2023.

There are no local elections scheduled this year in the Wiltshire Council local authority area, however should there be any by-elections or neighbourhood planning referendums after 4 May then voter ID will be required.

The Electoral Commission has begun their national ‘Note to Self’ campaign to raise awareness of the new requirements, which are so far primarily aimed at those areas which have local elections scheduled for May.
