Wiltshire Council has been awarded £978,000 from Active Travel England’s Active Travel Fund 4 (ATF4) to create three new cycling and walking routes in the county.
The three schemes are a pedestrian footbridge as part of the Salisbury River Park project; a cycling link between Devizes Road, Hilperton, and the A361/Elizabeth Way Roundabout; and an Amesbury to Larkhill cycle link.
The Hilperton scheme, which costs £320,000, will link to the existing shared use paths and head along Trowbridge Road, with the existing footway widened to create a shared use path for both pedestrians and cyclists. It is expected to be completed in 2024.
I have asked whether the TRO to close Devizes Road to through motorized traffic is part of the scheme.
Hilperton Parish Council has approached Wiltshire Council regarding the introduction of various 20MPH speed limits in the village. Trowbridge Road is one of those on the list and this scheme will, presumably, assist the application.
