Sunday October 14, 2007 Paxcroft Mead planning enquiry.

If Gallagher get their way more houses will appear at Paxcroft Mead.
The area was originally to be part of the local centre but various land owners have managed to get this obligation removed. WWDC councillors now regard it as an 'open area important for amenity reasons' and therefore not suitable for further housing development.

Council officers have tended to side with the developers but your local councillors have, not unexpectedly, resolutely refused to toe their line on this issue.

The matter will now be decided by a government planning inspector at a Public Inquiry to be held at 10.00 am on December 4th (and possibly 5th) at the WWDC offices, Bradley Road.

Both myself and Cllr. Carbin will be called to speak against Gallagher and hopefully the cross examination won't be too gruesome.

Although anyone wishing to speak should have already contacted the Planning Inspectorate, I have always found that Inspectors are prepared to allow ad hoc (short) speeches from members of the public. If you have strong views on this area of land please contact me for further info.
