Proposed rugby club moves forward.
Trowbridge Rugby Club wants to relocate to Hilperton.
Trowbridge RFC want to come to Hilperton and have identified a site north of Devizes Road close to the start of Hilperton Drive. The existing ground in Green Lane would be developed for housing.
The club submitted a planning application as far back as April 2005, but the previous administration at WWDC seemed to have no interest in moving it forward.
The application is for six pitches, (one full size, one junior, one training and three 'spare'), plus a clubhouse and a 200-space car park. Ecological surveys have identified the need to allow for the presence of bats and badgers whilst a transport assessment has looked at the impact of the club's activities on the road network.
30 conditions are suggested covering such items as design, landscaping, noise minimisation and affect on wildlife. There is also a requirement to improve the footpath along the main road and to move the bus stop.
The application is linked to the application by the club to develop the old Green Lane, Trowbridge site for housing - one won't be permitted without the other.
If you have any comments on this application please contact me by Wednesday 24th.
