Staverton-Holt cycleway progress.
Postive news from meeting last Wednesday.
A number of routes were considered and the next step is to talk to landowners and Network Rail, with a view to establishing a preferred route.
At the southern end this is likely to link with the route into Trowbridge, then using existing paths through the new marina development to the B3105, crossing it near Staverton Club. The next bit is a little more problematic as both the railway line and the river need to be crossed. However, Cereal Partners have given strong support to the scheme (as they do for many local projects) and may be helpful in finding a route. (A bridge across the Avon will absorb nearly half of the £200,000 cost of the scheme.) The route would then follow existing footpaths to Holt village green.
The plan is still a long way from fruition but at least it is being actively considered. If you would like to be involved please contact myself or either of the parish council clerks.
