It is now over six months since the McDonald’s planning application was refused, and six months is the time limit for an appeal to be filed with the Planning Inspectorate. I think it is therefore safe to say that McD will NOT be pursuing the application.
At Trowbridge Area Board last week, I had a word with the Inspector for our local policing team re vehicles continuing to use the now 'restricted' by-ways. He advised what the police are planning to do to catch un-authorised users. He also said that if anyone takes a photo of un-authorised use, he will ensure that the team takes 'appropriate action'; I take this to mean a knock at their door and a talking to! If you do take any pics (do not risk your safety), please forward them to me and I will pass them on. Please give the date and time when the pic was taken.
The ‘waste of money’ (in my opinion) roadworks along Trowbridge Road appear to be on schedule – the road is due to re-open on 8th July. Following this, Devizes Road will see the team in action installing the turning head by the Stourton Park mini roundabout. Devizes Road will then be closed to through traffic. It will be interesting to see what effect this has on travel patterns, and I hope that Horse Road doesn’t see an increase in traffic.
Please note that there will be NO meeting of the parish council during July. It was due to meet on the 16th. However, an extra meeting will be held on Tuesday, 6th August. 7.45pm start at the village hall, as usual.
The new gates erected on land at the junction of Ashton Road/Hilperton Drive have caused concern. A parish councillor lodged an enforcement complaint with WC and this has now been answered. The new owner erected them as ‘the previous fencing was compromised’. S/he has now applied to WC to install dropped kerbs in order to cross WC highway land.
Nothing to do with Wiltshire Council, but please remember to vote on the 4th July, or spoil your ballot paper if no one catches your fancy. Don’t forget to send back your postal vote if you have one.
