Hi,
Welcome to my September e-newsletter.
The consultation on restricting use of the by-way by the rugby club, and the one going to Semington, is open. Details can be found via the following link TRO Consultation on proposed - Experimental Prohibition of Motor Vehicles - Various Byways, Hilperton and Semington - Wiltshire Council Please let WC know what you think. The consultation closes on 20th November and it is important that you let WC know if you agree with keeping the Order in place.
Whilst on the topic of rights-of-way, please be aware that there is a sink hole on HILP17 – the bridlepath alongside the canal. It is very close to the canal winding hole.
The details of the 2038 Local Plan should be released by Wiltshire Council within the next 48 hours. It is bound to have some bad news in it for Hilperton but, ironically, it will need to be revised as soon as it is adopted (mid 2025?) due to the new ‘rules’ imposed by the new government. HAAG (Hilperton Area Action Group) will be meeting on Thursday evening to discuss the plan.
The parish council has funded the installation of two new Speed Indicator Devices (SID) in the parish – one on Trowbridge Road, the other on Marsh Road. They have blue-tooth capability meaning that the police can download info about speed/times of speeding vehicles. The police can then target these times for police attendance.
The Community Speed Watch team is always looking for new volunteers, especially from the Hilperton Marsh area. If you are interested, please get in touch with me.
The parish council would still like to hear any thoughts on what money sitting in the Community Infrastructure Levy (CIL) fund could be used for. Please contact clerk@hilperton-pc.gov.uk with your thoughts if you haven’t already done so.
Ernie.
