From Ernie Clark.

Apologies for the lack of an e-newsletter for the last couple of months.

The WC Local Plan ‘passed’ the first stage of examination (whether WC had consulted with neighbouring authorities) and so moved forward.

The next stage will be the ‘public’ hearing but there seems to be a slight problem for the Trowbridge section of the plan – the Civic Centre is not available for the original dates!  I presume that WC/the town council/the Planning Inspectorate are working to find either a different venue, or new dates.  Whatever happens, the hearing is unlikely to be until at least September.

The process to assess the village for a blanket 20mph speed limit is continuing and I hope for some positive news soon.  A lower speed limit will doubtless have no effect on some of the selfish drivers who use the roads – but one can only hope that it might convince them to slow down and make the roads safer for everyone.

The consultation on the proposed double yellow lines along Marsh Road saw quite a few responses!  The final report is waiting to go before the cabinet member.  I have no idea what the WC highway team is suggesting.

Various proposals for amendments to yellow lines in Church Street, Hill Street, and Horse Road have passed through the parish council and are now with WC.  As publicising these schemes costs over £3000, WC usually makes a ‘bulk’ consultation once a year.  This might not be until January ’26 so don’t ‘hold your breath’.

The Maxcroft Farm planning application is still waiting for a decision.  If the case officer is minded to recommend approval, the topic will go to the WC Strategic Planning Committee.
