WC pubkishes its decision notice.
Wiltshire Council has formally published its decision notice for the planning application to build up to 2,500 homes at Ashton Park, south-east of Trowbridge, marking a significant milestone for the development.
Outline planning permission was granted by the council’s Strategic Planning Committee on Tuesday 29 July, subject to the completion of legal agreements. These agreements have been completed and the permission has now been issued, along with the specific conditions required to ensure the scheme is delivered responsibly and sustainably.
The developer must now submit detailed plans for the development that were not included in the outline application, such as the specific building designs, layout, scale, appearance, and landscaping.
Once these are approved, construction is expected to begin in early 2026. The scheme includes up to 2,500 homes; over 600 on-site affordable housing plus a £5.3m contribution for off-site affordable homes; 13.6 hectares of employment land; two local centres offering a mix of retail, community, and food and drink uses; two primary schools; land for one secondary school; and an ecological visitor facility.
The scheme also provides extensive public open space, including formal sports pitches, play areas, a country park, natural green spaces and allotments.
Significant highway infrastructure is also included, notably the Yarnbrook and West Ashton Relief Road, along with new access junctions and pedestrian and cycle routes.
