Overall, it has not been a good month for Hilperton.
Firstly, the speculative Maxcroft Farm outline planning application by Barratt Redrow was approved by the Strategic Planning Committee. The ‘reserved matters’ part of the application is yet to be submitted but the draft details supplied so far don’t look good. High density and building height are just two of the issues mentioned to me.
Secondly, the owner (Summix Limited) of the fields behind Horse Road has submitted a ‘Form CA16’ application to Wiltshire Council. This form acts as a ‘trigger event’ for anyone thinking of applying for Town and Village Green status for the land. Basically, anyone now has only until 31st August next year to submit an application. If an application is successful, it prevents any building on the land. NOW IS THE TIME FOR RESIDENTS TO STAND UP AND BE COUNTED.
Better news is the fact that the police Speed Enforcement Officer has visited Hilperton this month. As Hilperton has a Community Speed Watch (CSW) team, the police monitor roads through the village either by the SEO or the Specials Road Policing Unit sometimes make an appearance. One vehicle was caught at 45mph, in a 30mph area, and so the driver will be getting three points on their licence and relieved of £100.
Of course, if anyone is observed by the CSW team, the driver gets only a warning letter from the police – no points, no fine, just a note on their driving record. If you would like to get involved with CSW, please contact me.
