There have been a few issues recently relating to Middle Lane. I would urge you to use the MyWilts website/app to report issues direct to Wiltshire Council (WC). Please don’t use any third-party web sites as it only delays things.
The St. Stephens place car park was discussed at an extraordinary meeting of WC earlier this month. The proposal to transfer £2.5million to the owner of the shopping centre was lost. What comes next? No one honestly knows.
Hilperton Parish Council has decided to increase its precept by 3% - a few pence a week. WC meets to set its precept/budget next month and the expectation is that a 4.99% increase will be decided. Two days have been set aside for the debate!!
There is no further news from WC re the 20mph scheme. What the parish council asked for/suggested was nothing like the proposal from WC. Restricting only a short distance of the ‘old’ B3105, and a few side turnings, would not seem to be value for money and would be a benefit to only a small proportion of the village.
Still on speed limits, the Elizabeth Way 50mph speed limit needs reviewing due to the number of houses now accessed from the road. I am waiting to hear what suggestion WC has. Any lower speed limit will need to comply with Department for Transport guidance.
Redcliffe Homes is ‘consulting’ on building 80 homes at the ‘back’ of Devizes Road with access off the ‘rugby club’ roundabout on the A361. Details can be found at https://devizesroad-hilperton.com/
