The main issue currently affecting Hilperton is the number of proposed planning applications that developers are lining up to submit to Wiltshire Council. This issue forms page two of my newsletter which should be with you in the next six weeks or so.
Wiltshire Council’s cabinet decided to hand the St. Stephens Place car park to the owner of Castle Place shopping precinct, together with a confidential amount of money in staged payments. According to the Wiltshire Times, the total will be £3.5million. Whether this will see a new development on the site only time will tell.
The recent fire behind Devizes Road could have resulted in even more serious consequences. If the wind had been any stronger, or in a different direction, either the rugby club or the village hall could have been burned down. If you are thinking of having a bonfire – please DON’T!!
The Hilperton Area Action Group (HAAG) acts as a ‘sounding board’ for the parish council. It is looking for new volunteers to assist in various ways, so please look-out for any info. If you wish to be put in touch with them, please e-mail me.
