Broughton Gifford Post Office to close.
The campaign to save Broughton Gifford PO has failed.
Post Office Ltd yesterday announced decisions on the future of Post Office branches across Wiltshire following a six week (so called) public 'consultation' which ended on 31 January.
The plan confirmed that 21 branches, including Broughton Gifford, will close. The first closures are due as early as April.
Tim Nicholls, Post Office Ltd’s Network Development Manager for West Berkshire and Wiltshire, said: "These are difficult decisions which have not been taken lightly. We have considered very carefully all the comments made during the public consultation.
"We believe that the amended plan announced today offers our customers across West Berkshire and Wiltshire the best prospect for a sustainable network in the future, bearing in mind the Government’s minimum access criteria and the other factors the Government has asked us to consider."
Quite how opening a few hours a week at The Bell would drag the PO profits down isn't mentioned and one must wonder just how carefully our comments were actually considered.
