River Biss waterfront exhibition.
What might Trowbridge look like in the future?
Please excuse the 'new speak' language, but the following is a WWDC press release.
The vision aims to provide a deliverable strategy to transform the river corridor to capitalise on the currently hidden waterfront and improve the investment potential and overall image of the town.
The consultation period for the River Biss Public Realm strategy will run from Saturday 8 March to Monday 17 March. The exhibitions will be an opportunity for the local community and civic groups to comment on the proposals. Staff from the District Council and consultancy firm Halcrow will be available to answer questions and provide information.
The plans will be exhibited at the following locations:
• Saturday 8 March 2008 at The Shires Shopping Centre, Trowbridge between 9am and 6pm
• Monday 10 March 2008 at the Civic Hall, Trowbridge between 10am and 4pm.
The exhibition will also be on display at Trowbridge Library from Tuesday 11 March to Monday 17 March inclusive, during normal library opening hours. The plans can also be accessed on the internet
using this link Adam Nardell, regeneration project manager for the District Council, said: “The proposals are aimed at supporting the regeneration of Trowbridge. They look at increasing access to public spaces around the River Biss, in particular those that link to the wider town centre.
“As with all the projects we are taking on, we have ensured that this preserves the local distinctiveness and rich heritage of Trowbridge. We also believe that this scheme will help to reduce crime and anti-social behaviour in the town.
“The proposals follow on from the initial round of public consultations and we hope that as many people as possible will take the chance to help further inform the future regeneration of the River Biss area.”
