Trowbridge driving test centre to close.
Another loss of amenity for the Trowbridge area.
The closure of the Trowbridge centre is yet another example of the left hand of the government seemingly not knowing what the right hand is doing. The DSA is a state endorsed monopoly. Every driver has to use its services at least once in their life and it has no democratic input. (A bit like the Primary Care Trust, really). It can do as it likes with no worries about what the public thinks.
Closing Trowbridge centre will save the DSA money; the fact that it will cost learner drivers an extra £100 or so, is not a consideration for the DSA.
The Government keeps telling us to reduce car use - how does making people drive to Chippenham for their driving test fit into the Labour Party master plan?
Over the last few years we have seen various quangos close local hospitals, local post offices, local schools and now our local driving test centre. What next? Oh, of course - our local council. This time next year WWDC will have been 'unitised' to supposedly provide us with a better service and get more people involved in local issues!!
