Campaign to stop littering is launched.
What makes people drop litter or fly tip?
I'm sure that we are all fed up to our back teeth with the litter louts that treat our roads and countryside as waste bins. WWDC and the parish councils provide plenty of bins and yet some people seem reluctant to use them. As for those people that fly-tip ...
WWDC is quite good at clearing detritis that is reported to it, which is just as well. It is a little known fact that it is illegal not only to drop litter, but to leave it uncollected. When a roadside or other public area becomes visibly degraded, by law it must be cleaned up within 60 hours at the most. Litter Abatement Orders were created for this very purpose.
