Secrecy reigns at district council.
This morning I had a meeting with the senior planning policy officer at West Wiltshire District Council. It lasted about five minutes during which I was told :-
a) The county council is seeking recommendations (note the plural) for a secondary school site east of Trowbridge.
b) The site needs to be about 10 hectares.
c) It needs to be near to a main or distributor road>
d) The possible site in the 'east of Trowbridge development brief' is only about 7 hectares (and presumably therefore too small. Amazing that it was the 'right' size up until recently!!)
e) er, that's all he could/would tell me due to the confidential nature of the subject.
When it goes out for public consultation I can comment then. So much for councillors as 'community leaders'.
No wonder the general public thinks that the whole system is dodgy and corrupt, and that consultation is a sop to the people after a decision has already been made.
