Sainsbury's for Trowbridge? - Ushers bottling site approved.
The scheme has a Sainsbury's supermarket, 100+ dwellings, shops and cafes. As it is an outline application the detailed plans come later.

Regretably, the final say will be with a Government civil servant. If the government permits the application, the developers will have to provide about 30 units of accomodation for local people to rent, fund improvements to the road system, contribute to local schools and assist with 'off site' public open space.

The scheme generated much debate amongst experts about the potential impact on the existing shops in Trowbridge town centre but, as usual, the experts disagreed with each other about whether this would be positive or negative!

The applicant has confirmed that Sainsbury's are contracted to take the new supermarket, and that they would like to be start work this summer. However, the last time that the Government stuck thier nose into an application at this site they took almost a year to reach a decision. So ... don't hold your breath!
