A temporary (six mionth) closure has been applied for.
The closure has been requested by British Waterways so they can make essential repairs to the bridge.

I have queried why these repairs could not have been carried out last winter, but I have not received a sensible reply. I am meeting the WCC rights of way officer at the bridge this week in order to try and discover what the great rush is.

There is no specified procedure for objections to temporary closure orders, but this does not preclude anyone aggrieved by the notice making representations to the authority (georgebatten@wiltshire.gov.uk), or your county councillor (me, using the 'Contact Me' button on the menu bar above).
