Good news for Semington walkers/cyclists.
BW brought engineers in from Manchester with expertise in swingbridge repair to get the bridge open to residents.

The bridge was lifted from its bearings for short-term remedial work to be carried out.

Major work will be required in a couple of years which will probably see the bridge taken away for shot blasting, repainting and mechanical work.

BW have said that they will liaise with the parish council and residents about the timing of this major work, and BW will try to avoid the summer months. They will try to minimise inconvenience to the public, but the bridge will have to be removed at that time.
