Staverton play area closure - why it had to be done.
The Staverton Parish Council insurer has been contacted and they are in full agreement with the decision until repairs have taken place.

A meeting has taken place between a parish council representative and Wicksteed and several options were discussed. Quotations have now been received and they are very expensive running into thousands of pounds.

It seems that the parish council may have to:

Remove the small commando climbing frame due to the very poor condition of it (and there is no safety matting). The rest of the commando area is fine i.e. wooden steps, tyres etc.

Remove the tall slide due to its poor condition and not enough safety matting.

Remove the swings as they are poorly positioned and do not meet safety standards and also the safety matting is insufficient.

The rooster could be repaired and safety matting installed beneath it.

Removal of the small toddler slide because it is of poor quality and very old.

Install safety matting for the small metal climbing frame.
