No council tax increase from Hilperton PC.
Parish Council leads way on keeping bills down.
Mindful of the effect of the credit crunch on local residents, Hilperton Parish Council set its budget for 09/10 earlier this week with no increase in its council tax.
It would be nice if the new Wiltshire Council (WC) could do the same, but that looks unlikely.
Despite promising us cost savings of millons of pounds a year it would seem that the Conservative administration will try and force a 3.5% (ish) tax increase through.
Earlier this week, the district council voted 'nem con' to urge WC to think of people's wallets and not increase council tax. The Leader of WWDC went on to say that, if the unitary authority had not gone ahead, WWDC would not have been looking to increase council tax this year.
It really does make you wonder what is going to happen at the new council unless some drastic changes are put in hand.
