Parish Council 'No' to junction alteration.
Hilperton PC has declined the chance to move road markings.
Since being elected to the County Council I have, amongst other projects, been trying to get safety improvements made at the junction of Church/Hill Street and Whaddon Lane. Various schemes were put forward including erecting wooden bollards on the inside of the bend but, for various reasons, all had to be discounted.
However, a few weeks ago the offer was made by WCC highways to alter the centre line of the road in an effort to move lorries further away from the inside kerb. The only caveat was that the request needed to come from/be endorsed by the parish council.
The matter was discussed at the meeting on Tuesday evening and, I regret to say, the parish council did not feel that moving the centre line would achieve anything.
Consequently, I will be contacting WCC to decline their offer.
