3.5% council tax increase confirmed.
The council tax increase for Wiltshire Council is now confirmed.
The new Wiltshire Council takes over from the county council and the four district councils on 1st April.
Supporters of the scheme (which, don't forget, includes some Lib Dem councillors) claim that the 'improvement' will deliver savings of £8.5m in the first year but the question must be 'Why aren't these savings being passed to the council tax payers of Wiltshire?'
The budget provides an additional £4.1m for adult care and community services and a further £1.6m for sustainable public transport. However, the budget allows a zero increase in funding to community and voluntary organisations.
