Apparently, WCC is 'improving well'.
How will the new WC compare?
The Audit Commission, the local government watchdog, recently published the county council’s Comprehensive Performance Assessment (CPA) for 2008.
The watchdog concluded that the council is improving well and successfully managing major organisational change (the merging of five councils to form one Wiltshire Council) while continuing to maintain services for local people.
The council was rated as providing good environmental and cultural services, making good use of money and providing adequate adult social care for children and young people.
In the CPA assessment for 2007 the council was judged as three-star and as improving adequately.
The Leader of WCC used the report as another opportunity to 'spin' the new council but, as her press statement was all info that we have been told time after time, I haven't bothered to quote it here.
